My Book writing Journey

A blog about how I started writing my book and my journey to finish it.

What Makes You…Well You?

As I am reading and proofing, I can’t help but to think about what causes a character to be who they are, and if its the same as in real life. For example, one of my characters is “destined” to save the world. Is she destined because of her birth rights, or is she destined because of how she was raised and how much she is willing to push herself?

Its an interesting thought, nurture versus nature has been a subject of controversy since forever. Do we have some sort of destiny planned out for us without us having to do anything? Or is it the way we are raised. If it is the way we are raised, then why are there such drastic differences between full blooded siblings? They have the same or at least similar DNA, so shouldn’t they grow up to be similar things?

There are some families that do follow that pattern, for example families that are all police or military members, but then there are many others who don’t. Some strive to be great, others just want to be able to survive.

So the question is, should my character be destined to save the world, or should she see a problem and work hard to fix it and by chance end up saving the world?

Decisions…Decisions….
